Two projects, one trusted contractor.
Chrysler’s commitment to upgrade the Toledo Assembly Complex and get it ready for the production and relaunch of the new Jeep Cherokee, included the installation of brand new equipment in the Trim Chassis Final (TCF) area of the Complex.
Although the work was split into two overlapping projects, Chrysler selected a single contractor – CCC – to ensure both projects were performed to the same high levels of quality and safety.
CCC completed this $30 million project in just over 158,000 man hours, including 98,000 hours of self-perform work, without a recordable safety incident.
Installation #1: Turnkey design/build services.
CCC acted as the turnkey design/builder for Installation #1 which consisted of installing new Dynamic and Static Water Test Booths. Working closely with DSI, CCC acted as the designer, integrator and general contractor for this portion of the program.
Our responsibilities included the design, integration, fabrication and installation of the new Dynamic Water Test Booth, water test booth conveyors, and water test booth pits. The design, integration and installation of the new Static Water Test Booth also fell under CCC’s responsibilities. All conveyor work was subcontracted to Dearborn Mid-West.
Installation #2: Installing with confidence.
CCC was selected as the General Contractor for Installation #2 and self-performed all the millwright/rigging, while subcontracting key electrical and controls work to Conti and Indicon. Work began with the demolition of the existing build stations so that new tooling could be installed.
CCC installed the first ever Chassis Marriage System, a massive, state-of-the-art system which spans the length of three and a half bays. A complete upgrade of the Fuel Fill and HFO System, built by Italian firm NKE, was also needed. This portion of the project included demolishing the old system, expanding the pit, expanding and upgrading the CO2 system, and installing a new Fuel Fill Delivery System. We were also responsible for the supply, integration, controls and installation of the new HFO Tank and Delivery System.
