Repairs for a safer parking deck.

Chrysler Technology Center (CTC) is located in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and is part of the Chrysler World Headquarters campus. The CTC is home to the vehicle product teams and eight design studios, as well as a 170,000-square-foot pilot plant. CTC’s parking deck 21 was in need of restoration. Chrysler contracted CCC as construction manager for cement repairs to deck 21.

CCC’s scope of work included small cement repairs and expansion joint repairs on all four levels of the parking deck, as well as removing and replacing portions of the slab-on-grade on the bottom level and applying a new seal coat on the top level.

All work was performed by one subcontractor with CCC managing the project. Once the subcontractor began working on the deck, CCC realized there were many more repairs that needed to be done then originally shown on the drawings; therefore, the scope increased, adding approximately $300,000 to the project value. CCC also faced the challenge of keeping the parking deck operational while repair was being conducted. This challenge included continuously redirecting traffic flow as well as creating safe walkways for customers.

Work was completed on time with no recordable injuries, and the result was a safer parking deck for CTC.
