Commercial Contracting Corporation was selected by the City of West Bloomfield to build a state-of-the-art Fire Station from the ground up. This new facility features a delightful blend of technology and high end finishes throughout its 11,439 square feet. Progressive, newer construction materials and techniques were used to achieve high levels of durability, energy performance and fire resistance. The building includes four apparatus bays that are designed to allow for an abundance of natural light through the use of clerestory windows and windowed four fold exit doors. Beyond the apparatus bays the building includes six sleeping rooms, four full baths, two half-baths, a workout facility, a day room/tv room, kitchen and dining room, locker room, equipment decontamination room, compressor room, equipment repair room, scuba room, first aid room and watch room.

Unique features of this project include a Magnegrip vehicle exhaust systems, colored alert lighting system throughout to inform first responders of calls, complete system for decontaminating, cleaning and drying firefighting gear and hoses, heated exterior slabs for snow removal, heated interior slabs for comfort, split unit heating and cooling system to give individual responders control over the comfort of their sleeping quarters, commercial grade kitchen, extensive workout facility and use of bio swales and rain gardens to control storm water runoff.”

CCC self-performed the apparatus bay concrete floors, cold-formed steel framing, drywall, installed the pre-manufactured trusses, roof decking and hardy board. CCCs team decided to use pre-fabricated exterior and interior walls, allowing a quicker build during the winter months.

CCC managed nineteen (19) sub-contractors and four (4) materials suppliers to successfully build the project including flooring, tile, mechanical, electrical, flags, signage, landscape, doors and more.
