Stellantis (formerly Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) engaged Commercial Contracting Corporation to serve as Construction Manager for the significant renovations and additions for the WS 2021 Model. The construction work included new building additions, 3.5 million square feet of building renovations, clean rooms, sustainability upgrades and site improvements to the Warren Truck Assembly Plant located in Warren, Michigan.
Building additions included a 32,000 SF Metrology Building, a 80,000 SF West MLM building with 12 truck docks and a 20,000 SF clean room environment CTVV Area constructed within the existing simulation building. Renovation work throughout the plant included structural steel truss reinforcing throughout the Body and Trim Shops, a roof replacement, infill of 58,400 SF of existing dock areas, floor polishing throughout, removal of abandoned MEP utilities and new paint throughout. CCC performed most of this work as a General Contractor, self-performing concrete, steel and carpentry/interiors work scopes.
Sustainability upgrades included Mechanical upgrades to the compressed air system, boiler system, weld water system, city water and sanitary system, waste water treatment plant upgrades and existing paint shop chiller replacement. Electrical sustainability upgrades included demo and replacement of the 15kv cable and distribution, new power feeders and branch feeders throughout, new interior and exterior lighting, new fire alarm system, grounding replacement and upgrades and plant security access including card readers throughout. The work was managed and executed through 24 bid packages.
