Relationships we had developed on a past project in Mississippi brought us this new and exciting opportunity. In 2005 Hurricane Katrina decimated much of the Gulf Coast, in its’ path was the Mississippi Aquarium. Animal rescue efforts were intense and the facility was a total loss. Fast forward 13 years and the state of Mississippi has decided to build a new state of the art aquarium complex in Gulfport. We are contracted to perform the concrete package for Roy Anderson Corporation (General Contractor). This project has it all, we will self-perform the deep foundations, SOG, CIP decks, CIP columns, shear walls and retaining walls.
When complete the aquarium will contain 1 million gallons of both salt and fresh water. Sitting on 5.8 acres, the aquarium contains over 80,000 SF of exhibits connected by landscaped walkways with plantings representing all seven Physiographic Regions of Mississippi. Species living at the aquarium cover water, land and air, specifically including: Alligators, River Otters, River Fish, Dolphins, Stingrays and Shorebirds.
