On February 21, CCC had their annual safety meeting with guest speaker Chad Hymas. CCC has had many safety professionals address our safety meetings over the years, but none affected our group as much as Chad Hymas.
In 2001, at the age of 27, Chad’s life changed in an instant when a 2,000 bale of hay shattered his neck leaving him a quadriplegic. Since that fateful accident, Chad has dedicated his life to service for others. He started his own professional speaking company designed to motivate professional and civic organizations with inspiration to fly higher than they ever thought possible.
For the safety meeting, Chad delivered his emotional speech right in the middle of the audience, not up at the podium. He told his story after the accident, making you think about things in a new way. He showed how the impact of safety and the choices you make affects your life and the lives of others. He also stressed family and team work first, along with looking out for one another.
The message went right along with CCC’s people-based safety program, and over the course of Chad’s speech, made people think about life in a different way.
