Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Care for People

Extending from the President to Project Management to trade labor, safety is discussed daily at CCC. Safety is a part of our culture. While caring about safety is a good start, Care for People means going above and beyond what is required or mandated and going to great lengths to ensure the well-being and safety of others in the workplace. It means workers are considerate for the physical and mental safety of their peers and will step up to identify hazards and substandard conditions that could cause harm to them. It also means workers will have the courage to approach their peers and intervene if they see them putting themselves in danger because of an at-risk behavior.

CCC is constantly adapting to the physical and mental challenges of the world around us to show our Care for People to nurture a culture that encourages compassion and courage to actively care about others. We are proud to be an employer with an inclusive workplace that is free of harassment and does not discriminate based on age, color, race, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, protected veteran status and/or disability status.

CCC is committed to delivering great projects for our clients and great experiences for our employees. This starts with our mission to identify, hire and retain the very best people. We will work to foster a bias-free environment where people are valued, respected and welcomed to share ideas, concerns and experiences. Together we will create a culture of belonging and family.

Supplier Diversity

We are one team, made up of passionate and trustworthy people.  The highest levels of management understand that it is with a diverse team that we shall deliver construction projects that hold the most value to our customers.

CCC welcomes and respects the diversity of our suppliers, employees, and customers including full participation in programs, policy formulation, and decision-making. We take an activity based approach to diverse supplier development. To demonstrate the development of this commitment and continued training we participate in the following activities:

  • Host a bi-annual matchmaker event at our headquarters in Auburn Hills, MI
  • Attend multiple matchmaker events at our customer’s facilities
  • Attending and participating in Michigan Minority Procurement Conference & Trade Fair – Detroit, MI and the National Veteran Business Development Council Trade Show – Detroit, MI
  • We Utilize the Uni-Tier Tracking System to measure diverse supplier utilization in the categories of MBE, WBE, VBE
  • Participate in supplier luncheons to coach and mentor on a one-on-one basis

In addition, we are a corporate member of the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council. With this membership, we participate in programs that provide exclusive access to top corporate purchasing agents, premium networking events, searchable supplier databases, affordable consulting services, technology programs, and vital introductions to nationally known corporations.

We recently added the LGBTQ designation to our program and have begun tracking subcontractors that qualify.

In addition, we have staff dedicated to continued development of our diverse supplier portfolio that reside in our business development, accounting, estimating and project management departments. With this pro-active approach to supplier diversity, we are able to form alliances with diverse owned businesses.

Workforce Development

CCC takes an active role engaging the community to build tomorrow’s workforce. A diverse, hard-working, technically capable workforce will be needed to meet the challenges of tomorrow. CCC uses a multi-pronged approach to generate interest and knowledge in the AEC industry by:

  • Participation and leadership of multiple construction industry associations to foster education, hands on training and career growth for women including NAWIC, Project Accelerate and Women In Construction Week.
  • Encouraging access, skill development and inclusion of minorities and women within the skilled trades. CCC recently participated with Ford Motor Company in their Fast Track Program, a four month paid work experience program to help create a sustainable pipeline of talent for the construction industry in Detroit. The goal of the program is that participants be recognized as valuable future employees during their four month program and apply to formal apprenticeship programs or apply for fulltime jobs with contractors.
  • Support of local education workforce development organizations to raise awareness of and generate interest in Construction.
