Upgrading Plant for New Models.
The Lansing Delta Township Assembly Plant is General Motors’ newest plant in North America, blending the best practices and newest technology into one facility. At the beginning of 2016, General Motors (GM) announced a $520 million investment in prepping the plant for new and updated products for 2017 models.
CCC was contracted by GM as the general contractor for the C1YX Body Shop Tooling project. This project is to upgrade the 2017 models of Chevy Traverse and Buick Enclave.
CCC is self-performing the installation of robot cells, stamping press upgrades, and all concrete work. Seven subcontractors are being used for electrical, piping, fire protection, sheet metal, and SMX tooling.
Just over halfway through, CCC has already logged over 160,500 man-hours on the project with no recordable safety incidents. The project is scheduled to be completed August 2017.
