General Motors: Lansing Delta Township
Commercial Contracting Corporation’s first project was for General
Motors in 1942 and 60 years later GM still entrusts CCC with some
of their most challenging jobs. This includes work on their state‐of
‐the‐art assembly facility, green field facility: Lansing Delta
Township (GM‐LDT).
In 2005, CCC was awarded the installation of all tooling and
equipment for the GMLDT
program. This
included the general
assembly and body shop
along with the
ventilation and fire
protection for the entire
general assembly. We
also constructed a new
central utilities complex
that supplied energy to the entire site. In addition to of all of this,
CCC was also responsible for the management of all mechanical,
electrical and painting contractors. This project would become the
single largest equipment installation in CCC’s history.
Because of our outstanding performance around safety, timing,
and budget on such a large project with so much simultaneous
work being done on one site, CCC was named GM’s Global Supplier
of the Year in General Construction Services.
Upon completion, GM‐LDT was certified a LEED Gold Building
making it the first automobile manufacturing facility
in the world to receive any level of LEED certification. The 3.4 million square foot
building employs over 4,000 people and is responsible for the production of the four
different crossover vehicles.
CCC has performed every equipment rework and installation for GM at the Lansing Delta Township
plant and we are still present at the facility today.
