Ford Engine Plant: Chihuahua, Mexico
In 2008 Commercial Contracting Corporation was given
the opportunity to work on an engine plant project in
Chihuahua, Mexico for Ford Motor Company of England.
The plant was to be used to build Ford’s new 4.4 and 6.7
liter diesel engine, code named ‘Scorpion’, that would be
found in their F‐Series work trucks.
Ford invested $838 million to refurbish the 750,000
square foot plant which was originally built in 1982. For
CCC the project was two‐phased. Phase one began with
the installation of plant utility piping loops and phase two
with the installation of machining equipment used
throughout the plant. Upon completion, CCC had run
more than 61,000 square feet of piping and over 170
machines used in head and block lines.
The end result is a production plant that houses almost
700 employees and has a 428,000 engine capacity.
