Baggage Handling Systems: Hartsfield‐Jackson Atlanta International Airport
As the world’s busiest airport, Hartsfield/Jackson International
Airport (ATL) in Atlanta, Georgia serves over 88 million
passengers a year. Any construction done onsite promises to
be difficult with aggressive timelines. So when the Airport
Commission began
building a new
international terminal,
it was known that the
project would be
challenging and it
would test any
organization’s
capabilities.
The new terminal, Terminal F, would be over 1.2 million square
feet and require an extensive, state‐of‐the‐art baggage handling
system. Because of our reputation for safe, on‐time, and onbudget
projects, Delta turned to Commercial Contracting
Corporation to undertake this massive project.
Since March of 2009 CCC has been diligently working to get the
baggage handling systems (BHS) up and running. As the sole
mechanical installer of the BHS, we have installed over 11.7
linear miles of conveyor and have also installed 20 baggage
claim units and 17 baggage make‐up units.
To date, CCC has worked over 126,000 manhours
without a single lost time incident and the
project value has topped $7 million US Dollars.
Work is scheduled to be completed by 2012.
